Why Obama Hates Arizona

In 2008 I moved from Michigan to Arizona.  When anyone asked why Arizona, my go to line was ‘I’ve had it with the winters and I want a serious change in climate.’   Was it true?  Absolutely.  Was it the only reason?

Does Joe Biden moonlight as a rocket scientist?

I’d had it with the claustrophobic living in the very blue metro Detroit area and moving to the fairly conservative, spacious state seemed like a good way to escape the clutches of our new overlord.  However, little did I know that just a year later as Arizona attempted to enforce the illegal immigration statute, SB1070, my new state would fall squarely into the political cross hairs of a scheming President already in campaign mode.   And I quickly discovered that a 2,500 mile buffer zone meant nothing to the long arm of Obama’s law.

Overlord Obama.  Yes, the helmet is a big improvement.

Without getting too heavy into the Supreme Court’s Tuesday ruling on the enforcement statute, I’ll just say that the whole thing was a two year waste of time. There never should have been an issue over Arizona exerting its right to defend its sovereignty and thanks to Obama’s lustful obsession with stuffing the ballot box and a wishy-washy Supreme Court, the law was upheld but effectively weakened.

Was this enough for Obama?  Of course not.  As our vindictive President once again showed he doesn’t possess the map that leads to the high road and immediately announced the federal government would no longer cooperate with Arizona state police in the deportation of illegals.  Not exactly a joyous turn of events but I’m not totally concerned.  The main event is to get Romney into the White House this November.  Everything else is just an under card.

No, for me, the greater point of interest right now is the deep, dark place within the President that exists beyond his obvious political motivations.   To the anointed one, Arizona is a defiant desert world.  The antithesis of everything Obama envisions his America to be and his disrespect towards the state perfectly symbolizes the disturbing ideological chasm between himself and the people who live here.

Of course, I’m not really just talking about Arizona.

In the 1800s, settlers journeyed west to break free of federal government restriction and to create their own life and destiny in a sprawling land.   Due to the sheer vastness of states such as Arizona, Utah, Montana, Texas, Idaho etc…, the concepts of freedom and liberty have been historically more tangible out west than other parts of the country, and prior to the 1990s, even California was a conservative state.

I can personally attest to the fact that if I didn’t like the dreary concept of an overbearing nanny state when I lived in Michigan, living 2,500 miles away from Washington D.C. has turned that notion into an impossibly deranged joke.

Obama most likely doesn’t get the joke but he knows we’re laughing at him.  And the President is determined to make an example out of the state whose governor, Jan Brewer, displayed the wonderful audacity to stick up for Arizona’s illegal immigration policies, criticize Obama in her book, and go as far as to confront his worship on an airplane runway.

The monster that keeps the President awake at night.

Of course, it’s not just SB1070 which has offended the President.  Here’s a few other transgressions:

-Arizona passed a bill requiring all Presidential candidates to present a certified birth certificate to be eligible on the Arizona ballot for future elections.

-AZ passed S1001 and H2002 which authorize Arizona’s governor and legislature to sue the feds over the health care legislation.  It declares that the power to require individuals to buy health insurance is not found in the U.S. Constitution, and it permits any individual cititzen in AZ to opt out of the federal mandate without penalty.

-Arizona passed a new legal “permitless” concealed carry law.  Thus citizens can carry a weapon concealed on their person at any time (except in restricted areas)

And of course, there’s Obama’s law enforcing nemesis himself, Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  Sheriff Joe has fought tooth and nail to uphold the state’s illegal immigration laws, frustrating the President to the point that he enlisted the help of world psychopath, George Soros to fund an anti-Arpaio smear campaign in an attempt to defeat the sheriff’s attempt at reelection.  Nothing like a playground bully who has to go and get an even bigger bully to help him out.

Despite the President’s shameless micromanaging antics, perhaps what’s most grating about Obama’s meddling with Arizona’s affairs is the recent tough guy persona his minions have thrown at us in the form of the contrived White House leaks.  I keep thinking about the Kevin Costner movie, Wyatt Earp.  The gritty retelling of the story surrounding the lawman Wyatt Earp and his famous gunfight in Tombstone, Arizona.  In it, you have the deliberate, hardened Earp taking on “The Cowboys”, America’s first real example of organized crime.  Wyatt is anything but silver tongued -or popular- in his dogged pursuits and he is certainly no relativist.

He is also not a phony.  And he puts himself in the thick of the fire to rid Tombstone of the brutal gang.

By contrast you have Barack Obama.  A weirdly thin-skinned and shockingly artificial politician whose sole skill seems to be telling certain people exactly what they want to hear.  And his big showdown moments?  Taking all the credit for the heroics of SEAL Team Six and fooling around with some sort of ‘deck of terrorist trading cards’ while hiding behind drone strikes.

Could you see President Obama being in this picture? Me neither.

Of course, the spirit of the old West -or for that matter the American spirit- is not something that our Ivy League illuminary can relate to.  The heart of this nation -strength, freedom, and liberty- is simply an irritating nuisance to the President. And outside of Arizona’s personal experiences with Obama, what the anointed one can’t stand about us he also pretty much resents about the aforementioned states, most of the South, and anywhere else where the people don’t grant him his due worship.

Barack Obama’s contempt towards Arizona is his contempt towards America.

And when you’re the worst President of all time, hating the country you are trying to be reelected to is a difficult platform to run on.

  3. It started when McCain chose Sarah Palin and she started to reveal who Obama is. That was what made him mad. then Brewer tried to uphold laws, I know, how dare she, and he took that as a slap in the face. That’s why he chose AZ as the F and F state, to disgrace you all. “Look at these people, they are racist and they can’t even do their jobs” he would say as he blamed you for the guns and for racism. He set you all up to be his gun control poster kids, he wanted revenge on John McCain, Palin, Brewer, and he wanted to push thru the “brainwashing about guns” for Holder. It was all of a piece.
