I’m trying not to envision this Presidential administration high fiving itself . Pumping its fists once the cameras are off.
With the dark cloud of the UN small arms treaty looming over the nation and a President who has indicated his eagerness to sign it, the horrific shooting in Colorado predictable provided a most timely tragedy for the Left to exploit.
United by liberal stupidity and the Far-Left’s manipulations, the Left’s instantaneous spinning of the events to advance their gun control agenda is sickening at best.
The Far-Left wants an unarmed, dependent citizenry. Facts about gun laws be damned. And if you watched New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg offer his snarky ‘we can’t have things be like the wild west’ remark on the suggestion that other armed movie patrons would have significantly reduced the death toll -if not prevented it all together- in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater, then you know exactly how the Left’s people of power truly view the middle-class masses who make up the bulk of this country.
Hmm…ban large sodas, insult Americans who wish to protect themselves…I can’t think of anything else I need to do right now.
The psychology of the liberal mind has been a recurrent theme of this blog and unlike the cold, clear psyche of the Far-Left, the liberal is a slushy mess of arrogance, irrationality, and fear. Unable to see one step ahead or one step laterally, liberals are incapable of envisioning alternate scenarios to the Colorado massacre other than the painfully simplistic and exceedingly dangerous notion that ‘if guns were illegal none of this would have happened’.
Selective reasoning at its most shameful.
Marijuana is illegal. Do people get high? Driving under the influence is illegal. Does anyone ever get arrested for a d.u.i.? Selling alcohol to minors is illegal. Surely no one under the age of 21 has ever purchased a six-pack? Hell, we have all sorts of illegalities and yet somehow are prisons are full. Those silly guests of the state mustn’t have known at the time of their transgressions that what they were doing was illegal.
Millionaire Presidents and billionaire mayors aside though, it is the Far-Left’s clueless, reactionary servant, the gun-fearing liberal, who makes the master class’s dream of a docile America all the more possible. It’s amazing. Liberals love to cite the right of free speech -unless when trying to silence those with differing views- while having total disdain for the amendment which allows them to enjoy that right. Then again, the next liberal I meet that understands the phrase “freedom isn’t free” will be the first one, so expecting a lib not to take free speech, or say something like property ownership for granted is probably asking a bit too much.
And this is the core of the liberal’s problem. They suffer from a severe inability to see or grasp realities which exist beyond their own small perspectives. And it holds doubly true for gun ownership. The notion that society would be a kinder, gentler place if firearms did not exist just might be the shining example of liberal denseness. The world’s history is historically brutal. Humans had already figured out all sorts of creative ways to kill each other long before the advent of fire arms, and the last time I checked, guns didn’t exist during the Dark Ages.
In a world where the strong has always preyed on the weak, guns have served as the equalizer and deterrent.
One of these, an armored, 200 pound soldier rushing at you, no real way to protect yourself, sounds great!
But also beyond the liberal’s spectrum of thought is that life in this country has always been relatively safe from the sorts of tyranny so commonplace throughout the rest of the world. This is in no small part due to the right to bear arms. However, attempt to explain the nightmarish result of an unarmed population to a liberal and you’ll just get the lazy, standard lib line of ‘oh, that couldn’t happen here’. Mind boggling words from a people constantly decrying how ‘repressive’ America is.
Here’s a quick rundown of what a less than benevolent government can do to its own ‘bothersome’ people:
-1926 The Soviet Union government disarmed its citizens. From 1929-1953 20 million Russian civilians killed.
-1935 Nationalist China disarmed its citizens. From 1927-1949 10 million Chinese citizens killed. 1949-1976, Red China, 20-35 million killed
-1938 Nazi, Germany disarmed its citizens. From 1938-1945 16 million Jews, Gypsies, “critics”, and political opponents killed.
-1956 Cambodia disarmed its citizens. 1975-1979 2 million citizens killed
-1964 Guatemala disarmed its citizens, 1964-1981 100,000 to 200,000 Mayan Indians and “political opponents” killed.
-1979 Rwanda disarmed its citizens, 1994 800,000 Tutsi killed.
Regardless though, liberals really don’t care about such far away places and occurrences. How could they? They can’t even relate to dangers that are smack dab in front of their face. Just ask a liberal this simple question: ’If you wanted to cause someone bodily harm, would you go after the confident looking guy holding a semi-automatic Glock or the trembling pacifist holding an Ipad?’ Ten times out of ten you’ll get an argument or a blank stare. It just doesn’t compute.
What does compute to liberals though is that they love to watch movies and play video games that are loaded with exciting gun action.
‘But hey, it’s not real you stupid conservative! It’s just for entertainment!’ laughs the doughy, Halo playing, Star Wars worshiping liberal.
It doesn’t matter. The concept is the same. Whether it’s against terrorists, gangsters, or space aliens, if you cheer for the guy or the girl with the gun on film, you should support the idea of defending yourself in real life as well.
It’s okay to shoot storm troopers but not real-life murderous psychotics.
Of course, the liberal caveat to all this is that someone else will always be there to protect you. The police, the marines, a security guard, Superman, it doesn’t matter, the liberal will be saved by a complete stranger. A stranger who is already tasked in guarding millions of other strangers. And a stranger whom you could suddenly find out one day isn’t exactly on your side anymore.
The mainstream media of course is a big part of the problem. Besides its hysterical reaction anytime there is a ratings grabbing shooting spree in suburbia, the national media conveniently doesn’t report the incidents where violent crime is suppressed thanks to open/concealed carry permits. And it certainly isn’t going out of its way to let us know that Chicago, which currently ranks at the top of the nation’s murder list, has the strictest gun control laws in the nation. But hey, they don’t call liberals “sheeple” for nothing. And if the media instructs us that guns are evil, then by God, to the liberal who has zero interest in making the effort to defend himself anyways, guns are evil.
A year and a half ago, after the shootings in Tucson, I got to overhear a starry eyed friend of my parents announce, ‘You don’t need to own a gun. I lock my doors at night and set my alarm and I feel very safe’. This sentiment pretty much sums up the way liberals view themselves and the world. I’m sure the patrons going to see the new Batman movie felt very safe as well. After all, the Aurora theater was marked as a “Gun Free Zone”. Unfortunately, “feeling safe” doesn’t equal “being safe”, and like the great radio talk show host Andrew Wilcow says ‘If you don’t own a gun, by the time you need one, its gonna be too late’.
The aftermath of Colorado should be about an honest and educated examination on the prevention of such future horrors. Unfortunately, among the media and political elite that won’t happen. ABC’s Brian Ross was more interested in blindly pinning the massacre to the Tea Party, Bill Maher used it as an excuse to bash American exceptionalism, Michael Moore lamented that he’s afraid historians will look back on America and see us as a “violent nation”, and I can’t even imagine the type of angst filled, gun-control speech President Obama has in store for us once the teleprompter is properly programmed.
All frauds and fools.
The only thing exceptional about Maher is that he’s made a fortune as a comedian without ever being funny.
Sadly, neither the Far-Left’s foaming at the mouth to disarm the populace nor the liberal’s empty hand-wringing will save anyone from violent assaults in the future. And it would be nice if instead of droning on about the wonders of Europe’s statist gun control policies, the Left took note of the fact that the Swiss issue a fully automatic SIG 550 assault rifle to every home and provide training as well (now that’s a governmental program). Gun crime is extremely low in the Scandinavian country and during the World Wars it helped prevent them from being invaded.
On Friday morning at the Aurora movie theater in Colorado, assault rifles wouldn’t have been necessary.
But other armed theater goers would have greatly improved the odds that some -if not all- of the twelve murdered victims would have survived.
And most likely, the silence from those who seek to destroy the Second Amendment in the name of saving Americans from themselves would have been deafening.

It is amazing how many people, particularly those who are of a liberal inclination, make comments regarding the control of weapons- even including weapons considered to be “assault” weapons. What many fail to realize is what the constitution actually says- and what was later held by the Supreme Court.
Looking at a dictionary of the day, the term militia was defined as referring to “trainbands”. These were attributed to the citizens in England where every house was “assessed” to provide men capable of service and included their ability to and possession of military weapons (refer to the history of the London militia that rarely met to drill in the military sense). So those who wrote the constitution were well acquainted with this general concept as being “typical”. Later, the Supreme Court held that the second amendment prevented the restriction of firearms to individuals so they may perform their duty to the “General Government” (see Presser vs. Illinois). In U.S. vs. Miller, the court held “And further, that ordinarily when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time”. It is therefore clear that the second amendment is not just about the lawful purposes of self protection in their homes, or hunting or shooting sports.
Because of this, it is clear- at least it is to me- that the prohibitions against “assault weapons” are unconstitutional, and that these businesses that declare their property to be “gun-free” zones while within their rights are at best misguided and at worst the result of a total and complete ignorance of the law of the land. But then, I am preaching to the converted on this website and the “libturds” as someone opined earlier will likely never read nor understand what has been written here.

Let me submit a question: Following the libturd reasoning as to why they demand stronger gun laws and control, if a drunken lunatic driver flies through an intersection, smashing into other autos and injuring and maiming its inhabitants, will the rest of us have to give up driving our cars, even though most of us are safe drivers, because of the actions of this one particular knucklehead? If left to a bed-wetting liberal, we would all have to go get bicycles to get around on…..!!!
